The Early Childhood Education Center invites UC Merced faculty, staff and students to enroll their young children and take advantage of the center’s professional and nurturing environment.

ECEC, located on the campus’ northwest corner, is enrolling children in its Toddler (ages 18 to 29 months) and Preschooler (30 months to kindergarten entry) programs. The center operates 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Go here for tuition information.
The center reopened Feb. 1 after being closed for several months because of the pandemic. COVID-19 protocols are in place include rules for physical distancing and face coverings, along with restricted access to the facility.

ECEC is much more than a child-care facility. Each classroom is designed to be a welcoming environment where each child can explore and grow. Staff partner with families to ensure continuous communication between the ECEC and home, which is crucial to a child’s growth and well-being.

“Though the program has to make physical and procedural adaptations to meet COVID requirements, we are working hard to make the ECEC the fun, engaging, nurturing learning program it is known for,” Director Danielle Waite said. “It is wonderful to welcome familiar and new families back to the ECEC. The children seem to have settled in to enjoy themselves in the playground and their classrooms with their peers and teachers.”
