Re: Fall 2022 COVID-19 Updates
To: All campus
August 19, 2022

Dear Bobcat Community,

As we kick off the Fall 2022 Semester we’d like to provide a quick update on our COVID-19 preparations:

  • This past summer UCM instituted a face covering requirement based on Merced County transmission levels as defined by the CDC . This approach will continue for fall semester; required use of face coverings for both instructional settings and indoor activities will be determined by county transmission levels. Check the Do Your Part website for current status.
  • The UC systemwide SARS CoV-2 Vaccination Program is still in effect. All students, faculty and staff who are active on UC Merced controlled properties are required to comply with the program. Vaccine and boosters are available both throughout the area and at Student Health Services .
  • Stay home if you are sick. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or test positive notify the COVID Response Center .
  • “Rapid” antigen tests are available free to students, staff, and faculty. Pick up tests at the Granite Pass or COB ticket booths or order kits for free for your family here .

Our community has come a long way and we now have more tools to adjust to life with COVID-19. While there were significant cases throughout the state and here locally in Merced County, many individuals were able to avoid the initial complications associated with COVID-19 due to the benefits of vaccination and anti-viral medications. UC Merced will continue to monitor the impact of variants and communicate with the campus community if any change to our policies is warranted. As we begin this exciting fall semester, we thank you for continuing to do your part in supporting our community’s health.

Be well and have a great semester!
