Dear Campus Community,

The People First workgroup was formed in the spring of 2020 as an initiative of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and in partnership with the Office of Student Involvement in order to ensure consideration of the faculty, staff and students - our people - is at the forefront of every decision we make. Since our inception, we have conducted listening tours, focus groups and surveys of stakeholders in order to capture the sentiments of those whose voices often go unheard and we are proud to present our work with the campus community, the COVID-19 Experience Survey Narrative Summary.

This report summarizes the findings and recommendations from the COVID-19 Experience Survey, which was created by the People First Workgroup to evaluate and respond to the experiences and needs of the UC Merced campus community during the COVID-19 pandemic. This survey was administered to Senate and non-Senate faculty, staff, post-docs and graduate students in May 2020 and plans for a follow up survey and centering of our people are already underway. For more information about the People First Workgroup, please visit this webpage.

We know that this is a difficult time for our community; we have heard many of your stories and we want to leverage our collective power to help support your needs. Please join us on August 18th for a People First Town Hall so that we can continue to foster dialogue, create plans that support your needs and ensure that no voice goes unheard. Below is the projected agenda and RSVP link - we hope to see you there.
