To the UC Merced Community,

UC Merced plans for a return to primarily in-person instruction starting fall 2021 in line with the systemwide plan announced by the University of California today.

The announcement is intended to inform prospective and current students as well as their families of our goal well in advance amid the uncertainties of the pandemic.

With robust research and COVID-19 vaccines soon becoming available to students, staff and faculty, UC Merced is preparing to welcome more students back to residence halls, classrooms, laboratories, playing fields and dining halls — while continuing to prioritize the health and well-being of the Bobcat community.

We will communicate more details as they become available, and continue to coordinate all planning with the Merced County Department of Public Health. A group within the Office of the Provost has been working on plans for 2020-2021, including contingencies. All plans will be formed with appropriate consultation with Academic Senate, Staff Assembly and other representative groups.
